LEGAL NOTICE Announcement of a Virtual Public Informational Meeting and Virtual Public Hearing on a Proposal to Reclassify the Ae’o (Hawaiian stilt) On March 25, 2021, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) proposed to reclassify the ae’o (Hawaiian stilt, Himantopus mexicanus knudseni) from an endangered species to a threatened species with a rule issued under section 4(d) of the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The Service announced a 60-day public comment period on the proposal, ending May 24, 2021. The Service has scheduled a virtual public informational meeting and virtual public hearing on this proposed rule on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 5:00 8:00 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time (HST). The public information meeting will be from 5:00 6:00 p.m. HST, followed by a public hearing from 6:00 8:00 p.m. HST. The virtual public informational meeting and virtual public hearing will be hosted via the Zoom online video platform, with additional call-in number provided, so that participants can attend remotely. For security purposes, registration is required in order to listen and view the meeting and hearing via Zoom, listen to the meeting and hearing by telephone, or provide oral public comments at the public hearing by Zoom or telephone.
