INFORMATIONAL MEETING PUBLIC NOTICE Project updates on the management plan for dryland forest conservation in Palamanui The State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife invites community members to the second public meeting regarding the Palamanui Dryland Forest Conservation Project. This meeting will provide updates on the project and gather input on the draft goals, objectives and actions proposed to manage the unencumbered area adjacent to the Palamanui Community College Campus. Date: Thursday, February 19, 2026 Time: 5:00 PM Location: Hawaii Community College Palamanui Campus, Panini Lanai The area in question encompasses over 800 acres of state lands and represents one of Hawaii’s most critically endangered ecosystems the dry forest of Palamanui. The state seeks input on how best to restore and conserve this unique landscape, which faces urgent threats from wildfires and invasive species. A management plan is being developed in partnership with the Hawaii Community College Palamanui, who are working to implement restoration, strengthen conservation outcomes, and expand educational and program opportunities for the community. This is the second community meeting held regarding the Palamanui Dryland Forest Conservation Project. Your participation will help shape the future of the management plan for the area.
