NOTICE OF ELECTION FOR A GENERAL EMPLOYEE SEAT ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF HAWAI'I
An election will be conducted to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees of the Employees' Retirement System of the State of Hawai'i (the Retirement System), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) §§ 88-24 and 88-25, and Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) Chapter 6-24. The seat is for a general employee-trustee for a term ending on January 1, 2032.
GENERAL EMPLOYEE
A general employee is any member of the Retirement System who is in a position currently classified as a current "general employee." The term "general employee" includes police officers and firefighters, but does not include teachers, educational officers, or faculty and instructors of the University of Hawai'i.
CANDIDATE NOMINATIONS
Pursuant to HAR § 6-24-2, general employee organizations may submit a list of candidates whose names the organization desires to have on the ballot, together with brief resumes of their qualifications. A "general employee organization" is an organization which is comprised principally of members who are general employees. The resume of each candidate may not contain more than one hundred words, including the name of the candidate.
A general employee who has not been proposed as a candidate by a general employee organization and who desires to be a candidate for election, may have their name placed on the ballot by submitting a petition which complies with the requirements of HAR § 6-24-3 to the Board of Trustees, together with a resume of their qualifications. The resume may not contain more than one hundred words, including the name of the candidate.
DEADLINE FOR CANDIDATE NOMINATIONS
Candidate nominations must be received by the Retirement System at its Honolulu office no later than 4:30 p.m. on June 19, 2026.
Copies of the petition form may be obtained from the Employees' Retirement System of the State of Hawai'i, 201 Merchant Street, Suite 1400, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813.
