NOTICE TO MOTORISTS Puako Drive Waterline Replacement Project Beginning Monday, October 2, 2023, the Department of Water Supply will begin construction along Puako Beach Drive, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. between the South end of Puako Beach Drive and the Puako Boat Ramp. Construction will begin from the South end of Puako Beach Drive and progress north towards the Puako Boat Ramp. Daily traffic patterns are anticipated to be impacted in approximately 500 feet sections and with project completion in approximately one year. ROAD CLOSURE TUESDAY, JULY 4, 2023 The County of Hawaii in partnership with Destination Hilo, Hawaii Explosives & Pyrotechnics, and the State of Hawaii are proud to present the Fourth of July - Hilo Bay Blast 2023. This year's Fourth of July Celebration will feature various activities throughout the day, a performance by the Hawaii County Band at 7pm, culminating with the traditional Fireworks Exhibition at 8pm in Hilo Bay. In order to give the public additional viewing area for the fireworks, Lihiwai Street, located within Lili'uokalani Gardens, between the entrance to Mokuola (Coconut Island) and the Isle's parking lot (...) July 13, 2022 ALTERNATING ONE-LANE ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE AFFECTED AREA: HONOKA'A-WAIPI'O ROAD; HONOKA' HAMAKUA, HAWAI'I (SEE MAP) The Department of Water Supply, County of Hawai'i, will be working on Honoka'a-Waipi'o Road near the 5.5-mile mark from 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, to install a new water service lateral. One alternating lane with traffic control will remain open throughout the installation. Motorists could experience delays and should plan accordingly. Please pardon this temporary inconvenience. NOTICE TO ALL COUNTY RESIDENTS CLOSURES&NEW HOURS Miloli'i Transfer Station Final Closure January 22, 2022 and Oceanview Transfer Station New Hours of Operation Hawai'i State law now prohibits waste or disposal facilities, such as transfer stations, from being located and operating in a conservation district. The new law and the expiration of the Department of Health Permit to operate the transfer station requires the permanent closure of the Miloli'i Transfer Station.
